Whether you are into landscape or lifestyle, flowers or fashion, abstract or architecture, street or studio, wedding or wildlife, or maybe you are not sure yet; the beginners digital photography course is the best place to start.
Understanding what camera settings to use, is a fundamental step in improving the photos you take. You will learn how to take control of your camera and how to get that great shot.
You are probably using your camera in full auto or in a scene mode e.g. portrait or landscape; you will be amazed how much your photos will improve in one day by coming on this course!
We will build your confidence and improve your ability to get the most from your camera. Don’t miss this great opportunity to develop your skills! With a maximum of 6 students on the course the venue provides the perfect environment to understand better how to get the shot you want.
This course is a mixture of classroom-based tutorials, practical demonstrations and hands on practice with your own camera. The course will be run in our school of photography in the heart of Lacock – (Photography was invented in Lacock Abbey!).
In the afternoon of the beginners digital photography course you will go out about in Lacock village with Fiona, the tutor, to practice and receive some one to one coaching. After the photo-shoot you will return to ‘The Old Clubhouse’ to download and review your images in Photoshop Elements. We limit the course to a maximum of 6 students to enable the tutor to help everyone individually.

♥♥♥♥♥ Caroline – Just brilliant! I went from knowing nothing to being reasonably confident with how to use my camera in just one day!.
♥♥♥♥♥ David – A terrific course. I learned loads and gained confidence to try out the techniques we’d learned.
Need to practice now but then I’ll be back for the next course!
♥♥♥♥♥ Emily – I had a brilliant time on the course. I came knowing very little, and feeling rather overwhelmed by my new camera. By the end, I understood the terminology better, knew how to adjust my camera, and use the basic principles to take much improved photographs. Thank you very much!!! I will be back for more : )
♥♥♥♥♥ Jenny – Fiona is an excellent tutor, helped by the class being limited to four. Thank you for a lovely simple lunch and the welcome towels after returning very wet from the village….Very enjoyable day and will return.
♥♥♥♥ Mike – A What a fun and educational day. Fiona and Andy are lovely people who really make you feel at home. Fiona is very patient and I managed to learn a lot which was put into practise with a nice stroll around Lacock village taking photos of anything that moved or didn’t!! A really great way to start to learn about photography, I will recommend to anyone. Thank you.

The Tutor – Fiona Turnbull
Fiona has been in love with photography since her very early days growing up in Glasgow. Fiona clearly remembers her first camera, a Kodak Instamatic and how great it felt when she bought an Olympus Trip when she was 16! Fiona has developed her skills through self-study, attending courses at local colleges & training providers – alongside lots of practice and deletion of images!
In 2011, Fiona and her husband Andy set up a new photography business located in Lacock, the “Birthplace of Photography”. One of the few photography training schools to own its own purpose-built premises, the business has grown year on year to become one of the UK’s leading providers of photography training. Fiona is an experienced tutor who specialises in developing and encouraging students who are at the start of their photographic journey.
Fiona has a wide range of photographic interests and is particularly keen on people, animals, flowers and nature photography. In addition to delivering photography training, Fiona regularly presents external talks on compositional techniques & flower photography.
