INTRODUCTION

ONE DAY COURSE            10:00AM – 4:30PM

The Portrait Photography Course is for those wishing to learn how to take flattering portraits of friends and family using the full potential of camera and lenses in any lighting situation.

Learn how to create beautiful portraits with the minimum of gear. You will develop a better understanding of how light affects a portrait and how to make the most of any situation. You will be inspired to use the full potential of your camera and lenses

All our courses are run in our own purpose built training studio, after the photo-shoot you will return to ‘The Old Clubhouse’ for a debrief. We limit the course to a maximum of 6 students to enable the tutor to help everyone individually.

To get the most out of the Portrait Photography Course, it is recommended that students are able to control depth of field, capture motion and have an understanding of the ISO setting. These skills are taught on our Beginners Digital Photography Course.

CONTENT

This Portrait Photography Course is a mixture of classroom-based illustrated presentations and hands on practice with a model. You will have the opportunity to go out and about in Lacock with the model and tutor before returning to “The Old Clubhouse” to review the techniques for enhancing your images.

On the Portrait Photography Course we will cover;
●  How to ‘see the light’; assess what light there is and to understand how best to use it and/or modify it.
●  Modelling the face – watch how simple changes to the lighting can make a dramatic difference to the look of a portrait.
●  Understanding how the shape of an image adds to its impact.
●  How to relax your subjects and to ‘pose’ them in a flattering way.
●  Appreciation for the use of focal length and depth of field in portrait photography
●  Familiarity with some Photoshop techniques for enhancing portraits.
●  Overview of the use of on and off camera flash

REVIEWS - What our students say!

Portrait Course rated overall 4.8 out of 5.0 based on 23 reviews

♥♥♥♥   L.L.  – 17 Nov 15  This course was great, one which I can really recommend. A relaxed yet informative day spent with Anna has given me the confidence to progress into portraiture photography and create outstanding images. Leila, our model, was absolutely fantastic too. Great refreshments and the village of Lacock is lovely. Thank you.

♥♥♥♥♥ R.B.  – 29 Nov 15 Before doing this course I had done very little portraiture photography as primarily I am a landscape photographer.
The way the course was constructed and the manner in which Anne conveyed her experience has now given me that bit of confidence to go out and try this for myself. Many thanks for a great day

♥♥♥♥♥   S.B. 25 Nov 15 – Discovering how to use natural light was a real lightbulb moment! Indoor photography no longer fills me with dread.
♥♥♥♥ A.C. 24 Mar 15 – Really enjoyed the Portrait Photography Course and am (I hope!) a much better photographer after attending.  Thanks so much to all at the Old Clubhouse.
♥♥♥♥♥ M.M. 24 Mar 15 – Anna was a Great Teacher and Leila was a most proficient first time model who might have an alternative career. Lunch was well above the standard of the usual course fare.
♥♥♥♥  R.N. 23 Mar 15 – Great venue, friendly hosts. Anna was a very knowledgeable tutor and great photographer. The new model Layla was patient and considerate of the nervous new photographers and a delight to work with.  I would certainly recommend Lacock Photography courses to others and intend coming back for more courses throughout 2015.
