INTRODUCTION TO NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY
If you are currently taking a shot-in-the-dark approach to your night photography, this is the course for you! During this practical, hands-on and informative evening workshop, you will learn photography techniques to become a skilled night time photographer.
This is a practical course which will simplify and demystify the night photography process. The photoshoot will take place in the quiet, historic Wiltshire town of Corsham which provides a perfect setting to try out your low light or night photography techniques. You will be in a small group supported by two tutors (Andy & Fiona) who will provide both technical and compositional support throughout the evening. We will build your confidence and improve your ability to get the most from your camera when shooting at night.
To make the most of the photoshoot, the evening will kick off with a simple, informal briefing on the technical and compositional aspects of night photography in our studio in Lacock. This will demystify night photography techniques and build your confidence for the photoshoot. At the end of the shoot, there is an optional Q&A session back in Lacock.
On this course we will provide you with the essential night-time photography knowledge and the practical skills to enable you to take high quality, well exposed night time photographs.
On the course we will cover:
- Key equipment
- Best times to shoot
- Where to shoot
- Key camera settings
- General shooting tips
- Practical photoshoot out and about in Corsham
The Tutor – Fiona Turnbull
Fiona has been in love with photography since her very early days growing up in Glasgow. Fiona clearly remembers her first camera, a Kodak Instamatic and how great it felt when she bought an Olympus Trip when she was 16! Fiona has developed her skills through self-study, attending courses at local colleges & training providers – alongside lots of practice and deletion of images!
In 2011, Fiona and her husband Andy set up a new photography business located in Lacock, the “Birthplace of Photography”. One of the few photography training schools to own its own purpose-built premises, the business has grown year on year to become one of the UK’s leading providers of photography training. Fiona is an experienced tutor who specialises in developing and encouraging students who are at the start of their photographic journey.
Fiona has a wide range of photographic interests and is particularly keen on people, animals, flowers and nature photography. In addition to delivering photography training, Fiona regularly presents external talks on compositional techniques & flower photography.
